Just Sorting Things Out

Today, I devoted EVERYTHING to sorting through files on my computer.
Susan is totally united with me on this –– and I know that there are others of you out there who would agree –– but there is NOTHING more satisfying than this kind of internal housekeeping.
(And, of course, it’s also the hardest thing to get to, given all the things that are allegedly more Important and/or Urgent.)
Somehow as I prepare for the next –– and I don’t think of it as final, but I would definitely say MAJOR –– phase of script editing, along with the launch of countless new projects in April, it somehow became absolutely NECESSARY that I thoroughly Spring Clean my computer.
In the yoga world alone, there are countless past press kits and releases and scans of the 50+ magazines that featured YOGA IN BED.  It feels like I have 4,000 version of those “legendary yoga master” Bloomingdales ads in sixteen different formats (from PDF to jpeg) and well … at this point, how many do I really need?
There are endless drafts of old writing –– including stray paragraphs and passages I cut from work now-published or produced but thought I should keep around “just in case” I wanted them back.  Sorry, but it’s a lot too late for 99.99% of those.
There are resumes I typed for friends that are three years old –– do I need to keep those in case they want a revision?  Each is only like 16 KB but still … it’s dragging me down.
I am constantly downloading pictures and graphics and honestly, tons of them can be easily deleted, especially given that I found them in an instant in the first place.
Some may say I am procrastinating, but it doesn’t feel that way at all.  I’m preparing.
Like John the Baptist — isn’t tomorrow Palm Sunday, as an aside? –– I’m paving the way for greater things.
And in true synchronistic fashion, I am simultaneously watching an episode of CASTLE on HULU where the lady detective (pictured above) who’s just been near-fatally shot keeps talking about how she needs “more time to sort things out” … Well, me too, sister.  Me, too.
In other news …
Slept later than usual.
Literally walked past my car and then had to walk back up the hill –– illustrating for me how real BLIND SPOTS can be (Thank you, David Neagle).
During the 1.5 hours of beautiful sunshine today in between rainstorms –– I’m not kidding, that’s what happened weather-wise –– Belle got a great swim in at the Beach.
Dinner with Susan, Belle, and Elissa at Plant followed by a return home where Belle got to see Otto again (Andrew’s 4 year old golden lab).  Pictures will be forthcoming, but Otto is enchanted with Belle (she loves him back, but is a bit more of an aloof beauty, as befits a lady).
And now, after the last round of Puppy Love, I’m speeding through this blog, and clearing through more computer files, all a reminder of the beauty of Simplicity.

    1. Yes, although I feel Kalinda leads a clutter-free life (except emotionally), so I’m not sure if she’d be able to relate at all!
