Heading For The Homestretch

I stayed up until around 2:30 last night reading through the novel one last (for now) time, fine-tuning a various lines and fixing a few more typos before the copy editor does his or her pass.
Not having looked at it for a few months allowed me to have a much fresher eye, like when you visit your storage space and suddenly remember all the things you’ve had tucked away.
Honestly, I am quite wiped out by my busy day which included inputting those last rounds of changes, but my dream is to complete the Acknowledgements section tonight before bed so that I can send it off fresh to my publisher tomorrow morning.
I just don’t want to forget anyone who’s been helpful, inspiring, or kind during this period.
Thanking people in a book is just so easy –– it costs nothing whatsoever, so it’s silly to be stingy with expressing one’s gratitude.
My new criterion is anyone who’s bought me dinner during the time I’ve written the book, which I think pretty much covers everyone I appreciate.
No matter what, I never forget a meal.
