The Normal Heart

Morning yoga client.
Then watched Jonah for 45 minutes –– we played WE SKI on Wii which was awesome.
And then Valerie 2 and I went off to see a matinee of THE NORMAL HEART, the George C. Wolfe production that’s touring.
I’ve always known about the play but never seen or read it before.  So much of it is relentless –– and there’s something fascinating about how the main character stand-in for Larry Kramer is so extreme yet self-aware and still unable/unwilling to modify any of his craziness.  And yet, there are two or three intense moments in the second act are incredibly powerful and effective that it’s impossible not to be totally moved.
As I launch this weekend into playwriting, this was indeed the most perfect thing for me to have seen –– somehow on point yet totally non-competitive in genre, tone, and style.
Drinks after with Valerie 2, and then dinner with SK(W) and JW(K) and Clark and Jonah.
And now … despite the fact that in one year of living on Telegraph Hill, it was been utterly SILENT –– there is somehow a very good yet VERY loud band blasting fun.
Enough said –– time to turn in and just hope that the band opts to do the same.
