The Kardashian / Keanu Factor

I am personally quite appreciative of this, but I’m not sure I would have advised it or done it myself.
Mastin Kipp is a dude who’s on the rise and say what you will about him –– and I’m not going to say anything –– I love how he describes his gamechanger for The Daily Love.

The Game Changer
In August of 2009, after I’d been tweeting for a year, Kim Kardashian — with her 2-million-plus Twitter followers — told them to follow @TheDailyLove. And with that single tweet, The Daily Love went overnight from 1,000 followers to 10,000.

And the rest is … if not history, at least something.
My biggest opening sound bite is always about being on REGIS & KELLY (which averaged about 3.5 million viewers).
And how did that come about exactly?
Well, there were lots of publicists working on it, but basically I got the call one hot Friday afternoon that they wanted me on Monday’s show.
What this obviously means is that something shifted –– one of the guest stars for the week couldn’t show up –– and so they needed someone and they gave me two full segments (more than Julie Andrews or Lauren what’s her name from The Hills –– we shared a green room).
Later in the week Keanu Reeves was on, so I’ve always just assumed Keanu had something to do (surfing?  a gig with his band Dog Star?) and that his delay got me on the air.
Now, they might have booked me anyway –– I’d already been on CBS’ EARLY SHOW the week before –– but still … I owe something to the Unknown Elements of Celebrity Scheduling for this major PR coup.
In a really good way, I’m keenly aware of this since my novel DOWNWARD DOG is launching as an ebook in a week and a few days (June 11th to be precise)
There are tons of promotions in place, but that Keanu / Kardashian Factor –– the unknowable, incalculable celebrity endorsement or celebrity rescheduling –– is what really makes something succeed at a stratospheric level.
And there’s nothing I can do about that … except focus on my alignment … and being Camera Ready 24/7.
