Mercury (retro) Miracles & Finales

Just arrived back from the UPS store and my five canvases –– ones that I have been so EAGER to see again safe and sound –– have indeed been returned.  This is AMAZINGLY good news.
And Cisco Systems has been kind enough to deliver Susan’s new modem as promised, albeit a day late.
Last night –– after a totally delightful beach walk with my godchild Atherton and giving him a tour of the Magic Cottage (“This is awesome! Why would you ever leave?” was his immediate response) –– I returned to my high tech temp office to bathe in the super Interweb connection and basically self-promote.
EMERGENCY texts from Susan, however, revealed that her TV was now fixated on one station –– HGTV, the last channel she had watched –– and that no rebooting seemed to solve this issue.  No matter what she tried, the TV had decided that this network was the only one she could watch.
Determined to watch the finale of the MILLIONAIRE MATCHMAKER part II recap show No Matter What, we tried everything, including bringing up an old TV and hooking it up to the secondary cable wire in another room.
Then I remembered that sometimes the cable company people themselves are required to re-boot/re-send the signal in order to clear up problems, and sure enough, through their magical powers three minutes later we were watching Patti and her millionaires and a final, surprise marriage proposal.  (“Mazel” was all a shocked Andy Cohen could keep saying.)
By the way, TiVo Support signs off at 7pm PST –– why is it not 24/7, I ask incredulously?
Mercury Retrograde continues it sense of humor (“Since it’s your new TV obsession, only INTERNATIONAL HOUSE HUNTERS for you, Susan!”  “You enjoyed OUTSOURCED so much, Edward –– why don’t you test that out and spend an hour on the phone with those delightful people?”) but tonight –– under God’s Good Graces –– we will be fully installed for tonight’s astonishing America’s Next Top Model Finale.
I hesitate to imagine what playful Tyra Banks prank the Universe has in store for us next.
