I’m Back (with a Vengeance –– sorta)

So last Monday, I had a BRILLIANT consult with Joanna Penn, who is a writer of mysteries and also has one of the best blogs focused on writing and publishing EVER.  I left the consult inspired (and a little exhausted) but mostly totally on fire about all the vast possibilities we had to promote my new book online.
And less than 24 hours later my site was hacked!
Coincidence?
Well, there are no coincidences …
It took 48 hours to get the site back up and running –– the Hackers placed a demon cartoon and some Hispanic rap music on the home page, but we managed to save all the content –– and then it took a little longer to fine-tune and update a few pages.
I used a firm called “We Watch Your Website” and they were great, and by “they” I mean Tom who seems to be the only person there but solved everything.  [“They” should really call “themselves”:  “I Watch Your Website.”]
Clearly, even though I was completely fired up about all the amazing internet promotional possibilities regarding the novel post Joanna Penn –– and I then had a FANTASTIC meeting with my publisher yesterday –– there’s still a part of me that was resisting a major internet presence and a new level of self-promotion (and one would hope), Success with a capital “S.”
And, on the bright said, alternatively one could argue that “You’re No One, until you’re site’s worthy of being hacked.”  It’s all a sign of greater prominence.
[Which reminds me … I love that Jenna once said on 30 Rock, “You’re no one unless PETA loves you or hates you” –– meaning that their very enthusiastic endorsement of my book UPWARD DOG, proves I am indeed, ALREADY Someone.]
Anyway, my site is back up and running and now my online security is super-enhanced –– a vital thing and a blessing that this happened before a major internet promotion begins.
And I’ve also had a breath or two to reflect and restructure and re-everything about what I’m launching.
Thus, I’m happy to say that I’m truly glad to be back  –– Virus and Hacker-Free, and anonymous internet villains be damned, ready to take my place in the Internet Stratosphere!
