I’m now about to sit down and deal with the copy editing notes from my publisher’s person, 98% of which are about double spaces after periods –– which I still believe in thanks to my youth in front of a typewriter!
I could maybe go through it with a global replace –- maybe –– by turning off the tracking but that feels irresponsible and cavalier about something, that is, after all, being published.
This is not the worst problem in the world –– and truthfully will probably involve me simply clicking on the ? a few thousand times but still it does feel like a weird punishment for turning in such a tight manuscript (there are probably like 10 edits/corrections over the 365 pages.)
