No — Life is NOT a Cabaret:   Life is A Fragile Picnic.
When I left my (momentary) moment in LA and put everything in storage, I loved the label of the lowest box in the foreground:  FRAGILE PICNIC.
The main thing in that box is this fantastic chartreuse picnic basket that Adrian bought me as an Xmas gift in 2009.  It’s super-chic and has china for four + silverware and wineglasses + a corkscrew.  It’s unbelievably stylish –– and mostly I just wanted to have a lifestyle worthy of a chic picnic basket (it does go perfectly with my convertible, so that’s a great headstart.)
And today I really wished I had it on me as we traveled to the Osmosis Spa, his birthday gift to me.  Your basic situation of being immersed in fermenting cedar chips at 140 degrees (etc.)
The morning began with Bikram, then some mechanics of our trip, and then the gorgeous journey upward to Sonoma, and then further heat immersion.
We return to a brief errand at Cavallo Point to drop off books for my summer signing event + confirm birthday reservations.
Dinner with Susan at Hillstone and then hanging with Val and Clark.
And now I must sleep since a huge amount of my energy is devoted to postponing watching THE DESCENDANTS (which expires –- for the third time –– in five days from my itunes rental queue.)
Tomorrow … Bikram, private, Secret Gift Project, and Dan Airport Pick-up … I can’t wait.
Truly, Life IS a Fragile Picnic.
