I cannot even begin to tell you how much I loved, Marina Abramović The Artist Is Present.
I started out merely curious and then became passionately involved.
I don’t think the trailer fairly represents the film in terms of its impact and emphasis (there’s too much about the “shock” stuff from the 70s) –– just watch the film –– but …
The other thing I would like to point out is that –– like Helen Mirren –– she is some kind of wizard re: her face and body. For the first 30 minutes, I watched and thought, “what is she … mid 40s maybe?” only to learn she’s now 65.
The film is incredible in so many ways, ranging from the love story with Ulay (they walked opposite ends of the Great Wall of China for several months, met in the middle and said goodbye to end their relationship) to the incredible intensity of her MOMA performance piece.
Really –– you should STOP EVERYTHING and watch it on HBO and become re-inspired by your life (and hope you don’t end up like David Blaine or James Franco.)
