Today I got my first pedicure with polish.
I’ve had dozens of pedicures in my adult life, really starting as part of being a yoga teacher. People look at your feet and well, it’s just sorta a necessity.
Yet until today I’ve completely resisted getting any polish.
But today after jump rope (a new record –– 16 minutes total in 2 minutes on / 1 minute off sets) with Val, off we went to Sydney, by far the nicest spot I’d ever been to, and not just because of the endless free mimosas.
Somehow a large percentage of the clientele got involved in my discussing my situation and there was universal delight in the final outcome of my gold, metallic nails.
Somehow, they are both very striking and very subtle all at the same time.
An intense and truly transformative game of Transformation with Susan, followed by my rushing off to Bikram where my teacher noted several times how much weight I’ve lost (I’ve never shared that I’m on a regime with her, so doubly meaningful.)
And it’s true –– 90 minutes of staring at myself shirtless in the mirror over the last 21 days confirms that a major transformation is massively underway.
While I was playing Transformation and at Bikram, Belle went off with Val on an independent mission of good-deed doing, visiting Val’s cousin in the hospital in her full service dog capacity. And, as one would expect, Belle spread a lot of joy everywhere.
We four reunited –– Susan, Val, Belle and me –– for dinner at Plant which was particularly fantastic, even though I felt the walk back to the car was arctic given the windy 50 degrees after the Bikram 115.
And now I am home to relax a bit and just luxuriate in my amazing pedicure, and realizing that I don’t own a copy of Graceland, downloading DIAMONDS ON THE SOLES OF HER SHOES to match the GOLD ON THE NAILS OF MY FEET!
