Adaptation

Perhaps my shortest blog entry given that I’ve been writing all day.
The script is now 70% done (or more) and 135 pages, meaning it’ll be around 200 and then I’ll cut 80.
I’ve accepted that it’s far wiser to just TRANSPOSE mountains of dialogue and monologue and then trim then, rather than perfectly editing them up-front.
The bulk of the work, however, is long done as characters and plots and dialogue remain mostly as is — at least for this draft.
Beyond this, I’ve promised Andrea 2 blogs for YOGAJUNKIE, I have 2 articles to write for a website, and an interview about Belle and myself on Telegraph Hill.
Other than a beach walk with Belle in the rain, and listening to 3 out of 4 hours more of David Neagle, I have lived today entirely in the world of the screenplay.
And now I must return…
[Here’s a really good thing:  now in my compulsive counting of scenes, I count the total and then the ones I’ve done — ie, there are so many fewer unwritten ones than written ones now.  The Tide has officially Turned.]
