This is a photo of the boat Jonah made for me at dinner (he made one for everyone) at Hillstone tonight with Susan and Val.
Today –– after a lot of tapping last night –– was an extraordinarily easy-flowing day.
Coffee at Acre and then an easy 12 minutes of jump rope (three 4 minute sets).
Many great calls and emails, ending with an awesome call from my producer which began in the cottage and ended as I walked to my private client.
As usual, her notes were super-intelligent and completely wise –– and prefaced by her saying that the script was truly “ready to submit” as is, but that this was just one more level. And, of course, I’m completely willing to do the work and incorporate all of her suggestions. (In fact, I’m excited about doing so.)
There was some high-powered Hollywood back-stage stuff –– all in our favor –– that I won’t reveal, partially not to jinx things and also because all our next-step-movie-star stuff feels almost too personal. (But again, I’m REALLY excited).
Back from client in time for Bikram and happily surprised to see Val already there for the 4:30 class.
It’s fascinating to me how now the whole class is “no big deal” –– it’s almost like brushing my teeth, ie part of a daily routine.
And it’s funny how my cover is increasingly being blown –– I’d liked being on the DL and not having anyone know about my other yoga stuff; it was great being just another student –– in that one student and her father have read UPWARD DOG, and another two teachers now know about this, and, well … I’m no longer quite as anonymous.
Fortunately, in the homogeneity of the Bikram experience it’s hard to really stand out that much. Everyone’s frankly too focused on themselves in the mirror –– and on simply surviving –– so that it’s Not That Big A Deal at all.
(And by the way -– Liz Lemon was right: PRIME SUSPECT is surprisingly good. And Maria Bello is consistently excellent.)
And even with some rather bizarre family stuff –– well, thanks to tapping, and Bikram, and Jonah, and Val, and Susan (and of course, Belle), I nonetheless felt like today was smooth sailing indeed.
