I designed a new business card for myself today, figuring that I might really want something new and fresh for the conference panel I’m moderating in two weeks.
I was choosing between fonts and found myself deeply attracted to Handel Gothic, one I’d never used before.
Well, I love Handel and also Gothic things, so after a quick google I found that it’s a font designed in the mid 60s and that “it was a popular font in the 1980s due to its futuristic design, and even today is used to signify the future.”
So let’s hope it reads that way on my new business cards; “signifying the future” is the right message.
Today was delightful but jam-packed.
6:30 am yoga private.
30 minute nap
9:00 am Bikram with my teacher friend Jennifer, and then brunch afterwards
Fantastic 2pm client call with someone who is leaping forward amazingly each week
And then semi-spontaneous tea encounter at Acre with Amy Jo Goddard, who was kinda awesome. We’re in a career mastermind group together but we’ve never met. She was in San Francisco for a few days and we managed to find a window that worked and Belle and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Lots of brainstorming and bonding ahead. (Weirdly, she is also a major Dana Flynn fan and so we were no doubt in classes for years together in NYC, but never met.)
And now –– thrilled that my accountant has completed my taxes before the October 15th extension deadline –– I only wish my scanner wasn’t being so cranky, so I could send off the signed electronic efile form and be complete.
Alas, I fear that I may have to reload the printer/scanner software yet again in the morning –– not the worst thing that’s ever happened to a person –– in order to be 100% DONE.
Nonetheless, I am officially winding down for the night, thrilled that all my favorite WB shows are back in full swing, living completely for tonight’s utterly preposterous episode of VAMPIRE DIARIES + anticipating my new business cards which signify the future.
