Wrote two scenes –– well really lines/short monologues if we’re being honest–– for the new play this morning before racing off to Jasmine’s 9 am class. A parking MIRACLE allowed me to arrive exactly on time. Nonetheless, perhaps 85% of my waking hours yesterday devoted to brainstorming and expanding on the play’s comic possibilities.
Mid-morning/early afternoon bursts of productivity in organizing things for the signings ahead, although a tempting email about a HSN show Xmas show possibility has my funding aspirations completely provoked anew.
We met a ridiculously cute puppy named Kearny at the Laundromat. Of course, the one time I did NOT have a book flyer or a camera on me –– however, I feel that sometime between now and 10/29 we will see Kearny and his owner again.
Insanely great beach walk with Susan and Sarah Herrington, mostly devoted to the topic of “what would Patti, the Millionaire Matchmaker, say about ________.” From these photos, I think you might be getting how attractive Sarah is, but not how sweet and lovely.
I also don’t think there’s anyway to convey how fun our conversations were for the beach walk, and then the dinner after (including several inspired “acting out” of difficult dating scenarios and how Patti would advise handling them), and then further hanging out and watching our favorite show together were. (Basically we spent 4:30 pm to 10:30 pm laughing nonstop!)
Of course, a HUGE topic was that Patti HATES redheads and has made only 1 or 2 exceptions in her career as a matchmaker. Her knee-jerk reaction is ALWAYS to get them to go chestnut brown. Both Susan and I are confident when the inevitable day comes where Sarah is before the Millionaire Matchmaker, that she will prove one of those rarest exceptions to “you can come, but only if you dye your hair tonight before the mixer.”
To quote from Patti’s book — which I have on my nightstand nearest my Bible — “Most of us simply can’t pull off red hair in a way that really works for a man…” but Susan and I both know that Sarah can and does!
One other highlight of the day:
Belle befriending another chocolate lab, 4 months old, not quite ready to take the plunge into the water but loving to follow her around on dry land. Adorable.
