Sunday morning brought another (non-iced) coffee at Acre, although indisputably delicious.
[More 3 — or is it 4? — of my AWE program: wrote a scene, aligned via a little Horowitz, and taking advantage of my empty stomach, practiced Uddiyana Bandha.]
Realizing almost immediately on awakening that I desperately needed a copy of Patti Stanger’s book (for research, dear reader, for the new play), after confirming that Books, Inc. had one in stock, I raced right over.
Unbelievably impossible parking challenges followed until I broke down and simply paid, just to get an extra car key made at the locksmith to facilitate a spare always being on hand for our complex car ballet. In all honesty, parking is the ONLY thing in San Francisco that isn’t yet completely magical.
Delightful hanging out with Annie Hamilton –– so lovely in every way, and super-smart (Stanford Philosophy PhD and Yale Law School) –– at Cafe Trieste. She said perhaps my favorite thing a person can say when I showed her UPWARD DOG: “I can think of at least three people I’d like to get this for as a Christmas gift.”
After a little organizing of emails and such –– and my endless strategizing over the nuances and methodologies of incorporating video in emails –– Mason Field walk with Val and Susan and Jonah, followed by Jonah (7.5 in earth years) accompanying Susan and me to Plant for dinner. (I have learned a tremendous secret: the $5 “children’s” pizza is nearly the same size as the adult one. I don’t know how I’m going to make this work for me, but I am determined to find a way.)
After deciding to try to organize for two hours the literally 1,000+ images I have stuffed away in various folders labeled “Pictures to Sort” or “Images for Projects,” I stayed up a little too late reading Patti’s book at Don Pisto’s (Sunday is $3 sangria night), and although technically that does count as working late, it has left me inspired and slightly weary for Monday morning.
(Although it is nice that Corey the waiter does know my, and more importantly, Belle’s name and dining preferences.)
