A morning of cleaning and organizing –– moving from the upstairs back down to the Magic Cottage –– and all the sorting and paring down and laundry and filing felt very therapeutic, frankly.
Then three lovely reunions:
Class with Dana who arrived from Laughing Lotus NYC for several days. Among the joyful synchronicity (as I don’t think she reads this blog) were that she played MAN IN THE MIRROR (meaning I wrote about this song last week).
Dana and I are often uncannily on the same page, everything from both of us picking an obscure pose in the same week, to her reading something in class that’s bizarrely and specifically like something I’m reading, and my all-time favorite — and I have witnesses to this — but after I wrote a several page speech/conversation for her character in the novel, she more or less delivered that speech during a teacher’s meeting. And about a topic she’d never spoke of in class before (I asked her).
For the next reunion, dashed off to pick up Susan at the airport. Belle spotted her first while I was texting and SO GOOD to be back with our little pack!
Then we were about to watch the MM but Susan was inspired to invite Val to join who popped by allegedly in pajamas (although somehow they were astonishingly chic.) We actually never got to the show because of our lively conversation, and as Susan faded from her flight Val, Belle and I went for a drink together at Don Pistos (where we got to practice MM’s lessons, in fact).
I also learned that according to HUMAN DESIGN, I am a PROJECTOR. According to Susan and Val this was MAJOR — although for me, it was/is still quite mysterious. But here I am:
Yup — that’s me.
One other great reunion deserves mentioning:
Belle and I popped by the laundromat and saw Kearney the super-cute puppy and her lovely owner Kate and her boyfriend.
Kate is a bartender at Don Pistos and had promised to come to the event on Saturday but didn’t show. She’s the sweetest, sincerest person — her parents raise service dogs back east — so I figured something had come up.
However, in perfect synchronicity, she’d just come from Acre where she’d bought a copy of UPWARD DOG for me to autograph when she’d see me next at Don Pistos. [IE, this was delightful and sweet and wonderful timing; otherwise, if she’d told me “I’m just on my way to buy a copy now,” my Human Design Flaw (or whatever it’s called) of Bitterness would have kicked in and I would have completely been “when will you stop lying!”]
In all seriousness, Kate is great, and Kearny is the sweetest pup and LOVES Belle. (the third great reunion of the day) and obviously just can’t get enough of her.
