Somehow my entire life today revolved around cars, both Old and New.
At the DMV, parking permit transfer from my old car to my new –– semi-complete as it’s only temporary until I have the full registration.  [Guy in front of me pleading to get ticket forgiven –– or whatever –– because he was in rehab, and then told clerk she was super-hot (which she actually was.)]
Stopped by the dealer immediately after to get an iphone adapter and charger.  [At first accessory dude ignored me, but was nice enough when I said “Can we just bring this out to the car in the parking lot and try it before I buy two things and have to return one?” to actually go on the 500 foot excursion with me.]
Car wash #1 to wash minor grime off New Car that occurred during transit.
Returned home for Car Wash #2, via this new service called Cherry which is $10 more than a normal wash but they come to your door and wash the car by hand.  Actually totally worth it –– and frankly NECESSARY –– since the Old Car has a sad window situation that prevents a mechanical car wash.
Cherry is really into being anonymous and almost human-averse –– they text their window of arrival but basically want you just to leave the car somewhere accessible and unlocked, and frankly, they’ve arranged it so they never need to make contact.  They also have no phone number and no email on their site.
And yet, Chris from Cherry –– there was an actual human involved –– was super-cute and did an awesome job (and I tipped him handsomely).
[FYI, Car cleaning semi-necessary before Rhiannon got Old Car for a few months.  Also, Cherry gives you a choice of scent –– Cherry, Pine and New Car –– and I chose New Car although they may have gone overboard a bit with it.]
Moving on …
One mechanical snag in New Car which requires an appointment tomorrow at the local BMW dealership to clarify.  [Seems like a minor idiosyncrasy that will be fixed in seconds, at least according to Carson, the new guy I spoke to on the phone.]
Then tandem parking moment where my spare key has suddenly vanished from its sacred position (VERY strange), while I was doing a Skype yoga session with my client now in Hong Kong (it’s tomorrow morning there.)
Immediately following this, picked up Rhiannon after her class, returned us to my place, and let her take off with Old Car (meaning, I needed to pick up the person to whom I was subletting my Old Car, in order to give her said car.)
And now –– until tomorrow morning when I drive SK(W) to the airport in New Car and then visit the BMW dealership in Marin for CLARITY –– utter Vehicular Exhaustion has set in (in fact, to the Maximum Degree).
[But let me just say this:  I am in LOVE with my New Car.  Real Love.  Lasting Love.  The kind of love that Lionel Richie sings about.]
Amen.

    1. I agree –– it shows both a devil-may-care-past and a complete “I’m a new man now” sensibility. [Although honestly, the pretty clerk seemed horrified when he walked away –– and grateful there was a thick glass wall between them!]
