First it was my new man-bag at dinner with Susan on night #1 in SF. Last night it was my earphones at the Laughing Lotus. I am adjusting to life here with ease, but leaving behind remnants at the same time, fortunately at relatively convenient, retrievable locations.
A morning organizing my things in the Magic Cottage — time well-spent.
One hour meeting about video email and conferencing — in video conferencing format which with weak internet (the only non-magical thing about the Magic Cottage) — meant I was neither seen nor heard.
Then retrieving my earphones and business card case at the Lotus.
Failure to park in front of Staples without the right change or some kind of key pass.
A sudden realization while driving that I’d omitted producing an Obie-winning play from my online bio (now adjusted).
In a quest for organization, decided I needed legal pads to make things hum again on the biz level. After the Staples Parking Fiasco, walked to Artists and Craftsmen — their utilitarian website completely in contrast to their totally cool, super-arty store.
FANTASTIC beach walk with Susan/SARK with Belle. Belle is beyond angelic in her willingness to comply with unfathomable rules, such as being on-leash for certain sections. You can see the patient questioning in her eyes (“Why?”) and the sweet compliance during the stretches of Wildlife Preserve when she can’t run freely.
Belle loved our rounds of Frisbee tossing and even when one went out to sea, she managed to make her own fun of running ahead and dashing into the water, while searching for a stick to continue the retrieving.
Realization that I might consider — having just finished the Florida Design project, shooting five book promos, and moving to a new city — that a sane person might take a few days off before launching into more work.
Dinner with Susan at my new favorite mexican hotspot, Don Pisto’s, (where the waiter looks like an more anglo version of my ex-Roger), followed by some shared TV.
Tragically, Susan and I think Tyra may be overdoing it with an All Star Top Model reunion show. It’s just modeling on steroids (plus no one is the least bit appealing; it’s a bad girl’s club of models). As hard-core Tyra fans, we were shocked we couldn’t get beyond the first segment.
The FLIPPING OUT interview show was delightful, however, although nothing can compete with the new season of RACHEL ZOE. She is BEYOND — and I am living for next week’s episode. (Or more accurately, in Rachel-speak, “I die for next week’s episode!”)
Never has there been a TV show where every five seconds, there’s an interview cut-away where someone says “EVERYTHING is at stake” or “It’s all on the line.” Determined to start doing that in my own life and will document the results.
