Saturday, I think I spoke to a few people on the phone and texted others, but I mostly cut 35 pages from the script.
As Dan points out, if it were now filmed at 224 pages, it would only be a 3 hour and 44 minute film, only 8 minutes longer than Lawrence of Arabia.
Obviously, totally not acceptable yet.
Although if you look at it this way, I did cut 13% from 260 pages in one day.
Imagine if you lost 13% of your body weight in one day. A 150 pound person would suddenly weight 19.5 pounds less, clocking in at 130.
Chances are you’d notice.
OK — more cutting ahead tonight and tomorrow, and even though somehow this is incredibly exhausting –– I think it’s because it requires keeping the entire structure in my head to do determine what’s necessary, what’s already been said, plus the emotional drain of being utterly ruthless towards my own creation –– despite all that, I must report that our editing situation is entirely BEYOND SUBLIME (Thank you, Susan!)

I hope Susan never sees that photo.
I sent it to her immediately. Only a crazy person wouldn’t want Belle on their furniture!
