My opening tonight was incredibly fun.
I began the day with a quick spa visit to hot and cold plunge myself so that I was cleaned and refreshed. Then two client calls and signing off from all other biz for the day –– although technically since I sell paintings I was still sort of on the clock.
Off to the airport to pick up Daniel and Svetlana with Belle, a brief nap, and then all of us went off to Cavallo Point.
Some of the nicest people I know were there. Susan and John, of course, and the Tates. Lots of other good friends (forgive me if I don’t mention you but there were lots of people floating around), but Rhianon, Laurie and her friend Wendy, and Karin, Jenny and Sheena from Acre, Katia and her friend Sasha, Kyle from my drawing group and his partner Beau, Yofe, and even my college roommate Peter. All of that plus a phone call from LLS and Philip in Cuba, too!
Perhaps most importantly, Jonah (8), not only went around and inspected the price of each painting –– he approved of all, even giving a two thumbs up for the largest and most expensive canvas, although he did feel the largest drawing should have been priced at $275 –– he also gave me this amazing set of connected acorns, explaining that they represented his parents and him, Susan and John, and me.
All very magical and remarkable, perhaps –– although nothing more so than returning home after dropping off my guests to find perfect and magical parking on Telegraph Hill at 10 pm.
What a day, indeed!

Wish we could have been there to witness the parking miracle. A picture of the spot and then you pulling into it would have been sufficient evidence for The Church.
Just the look on my face to find a parking spot at that hour would redefine “ecstasy” for all future depictions of saints.
