We just got Adrian’s tickets for San Francisco and I’m thrilled he’s going to be here in exactly 2 weeks. I love that I now have so many delightful things in San Francisco that I cannot wait to show him.
Susan will be teaching in Hawaii and I’m a little sad we won’t all be hanging out, but essentially it means that there will only be a five hour gap between dropping her off at the airport and picking him up. [IE, time where I will be “unsupervised” so to speak — except of course for Belle’s watchful eye.]
Given that I have a friend coming into town in two weeks, I have 2 goals, both involving MAJOR REDUCTION.
I need to edit the script down from 271 pages to 120 — IE, lose 150 pages.
And I need to lose 15 pounds (at least).
That’s roughly 10 pages and I pound a day.
Seems doable, right?
In fact, I’ve created a little excel spreadsheet to monitor my progress. Although I may go for 3D, what’s essential is that I see two constantly decreasing lines, much like this graph.
Unlike this graph, however, my mood has been up and down all day.
Moments of total delight like hanging out on the grassy hill of Ft. Mason with Susan and Belle where life just seems so perfect.
And then despair realizing I have to renew my residential temporary parking permit next week (another expense during a lean moment.) If you know my passionate for parking, this makes it all the more painful.
Dan had a helpful comment about how I might benefit from actually writing something new.
It’s true that there are moments of joyful creativity while I am editing the screenplay, but it’s largely mechanical and frankly, more than anything, feels like just another promotional task more than anything else. It’s sort of in the category of the four thousand marketing emails I’m sending hourly to peddle UPWARD DOG — which I vaguely remember loving writing and photographing — and trolling for another yoga client or two (I also vaguely remember loving to teach yoga to people — Vaguely).
Just FYI, I am enjoying this online course I’m taking with EFT tapping techniques (and it is only possible to do for like 12-20 minutes a day so it’s not an overwhelming obsession), and hoping it helps my mood.
One key insight was about how in tapping we are clearing out any negativity. In other words, we’re not trying to immediately brush any unpleasantness immediately away, or as Abraham says, “put a smiley face sticker on an empty gas tank.” Instead, we’re working on truly clearing any pesky beliefs that stand in our way.
It will be harder to measure than my very definite page count, and my equally quantifiable personal poundage, BMI and Body Fat — but how interesting if I could also chart my negative beliefs as they dissipate as well … (let’s hope they do.)
I’m not sure how, but I should probably add a “negativity” column to my morning weigh-in/page-count spreadsheet somehow. Suggestions?
