More like SMASHED! (sigh …)
So I awoke yesterday to find that some crazy person had banged into my car between 12:30 am and 6:30 am in its parking spot.
No note (of course).
I did have the hope that this was one of those dents they could take a plunger (or whatever that tool is) and get out easily, but no such luck.  The door needs to be replaced.
Of course there’s insurance –- and there is one bright side (at least).
I guess the first is that I’ve lost that new car fanaticism to avoid all scratches –– (even though it will soon be good as new but still … ) –– and the second is that if I have the repair done while I’m in NYC at the end of the month, the Mini of Marin people were totally cool about keeping my car there until I I get back.
[IE, the longer I stay the more I save on airport parking.  And P.S., besides the cosmetic damage, everything works perfectly except the driver’s window doesn’t roll down all the way.]
So factoring in the deductible and the anticipated time I will be in NYC, it boils down to a cost of about $150 – $200 for the new door which isn’t as tragic as it might be.
Today I found myself exhausted and slept extensively –– although I now realize it’s Saturday night and I plan on working for several hours more –- and at least for once it’s obvious why.
Any single one of these things could take up all my time/energy now:

  • Moving
  • Traveling to Cancun on Wednesday
  • Back in SF for two days then …
  • NYC for my book trailer shoot
  • Book Promotion for the June release
  • Not sure where I will be living in May (yet)
  • Day 20 of my juice cleanse (and Day 36 of my fitness regime)

And they are all happening AT ONCE.
Add to that the nocturnal collision and it’s no wonder I needed those 2 naps today.
No wonder at all.
