So this morning I went to my UPS mailbox to get something sent registered mail.
And immediately after leaving, I got an email saying that I had a package. [Later that day I got two more such emails and that, I think, accounts for everything I’m expecting in the post.]
Anyway, even though the recovery time is 2 to 3 weeks for my appendectomy, and the instructions say not to lift more than 10 pounds (but not really for how long), since on Saturday I lifted a 12 pound bag of Belle’s new dog food without a hitch, I decided that today was the day to test lugging the 20 pound package –– Susan’s Xmas gift –– that arrived.
It was totally fine –– although I do dimly recall that 3 weeks ago I lifted my 80 pound dog every night into the loft bed without a hitch.
I listened to an Amy Ahler’s seminar today about book strategies that was typically intelligent and generous –– and in prep for tomorrow’s brunch with Amy and Susan.
And I received my third –– each of diminishing intensity –– communication in two weeks that combined a) unreachability (someone who just can’t be reached by any power known to man and b) insane lies. This was by far the tamest and I also noticed that my reaction was equally less intense. [Although there still is the temptation to write the 40 page rebuttal singling out every inaccuracy; non-response is, however, the best approach.]
It’s sort of like that kinetic energy ball thing where you cause a reaction and it reverberates and then dies down.
That’s what I’m feeling: my reaction to the a) unreachable and b) insane liars are dying down.
All great prep, since we’re going big and going public in 2013 with new works. (Just got a congrats from a former lit agency about an industry announcement of my novel’s sale.)
Anyway, I’m so glad –– with these diminishing experiences –– that I’ve done the Heavy Lifting on a spiritual level beforehand.
And trust me, non-response to these kind of things is MUCH more difficult than 20 or 80 or 1000 pounds in a deadlift.
