LLS gave me a cute little notebook before she left –– I have an enormous addiction to blank notebooks –– and I decided to start recording all the instances of “subtle magic” I experience.
The phrase originates from the Abraham Cruise and I heard it again this weekend as I listened to the CDs while driving around. I can’t remember the exact context at all –– I just wrote the words “Subtle Magic” in my notes –– but I know how I’m applying it: all those tiny little ways where things work out, whether through minor-magical synchronicities or not.
IE, it’s sorta like a gratitude journal, but less overt.
For example, today’s instances of Subtle Magic included three times getting overlapping emails where a questions I was asking was being answered instantaneously. [Meaning “are we on for 2:30?” was sent at the same time “can you move to 2?” came in.]
And everyone’s favorite –– perfect parking spaces –– of course, count.
Sometimes the gratitude journal practices feels …. not really forced but … I feel like I have to be “spiritually correct” and appreciate all the Big Deal Blessings I’m obviously supposed to appreciate.
But subtle magic is different.
More spontaneous.
A lot less pressure.
Often amusing.
And something I REALLY enjoy and want lots more of.
