That’s what Anna Wintour says in BILL CUNNINGHAM NEW YORK, the documentary I watched in bits and pieces while eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner today –– mostly to extend it given how euphoric it made me feel.
I actually began to suspect there might be something wrong with me based on my reaction until I read Roger Ebert’s review afterwards, “”This movie made me happy every moment I was watching it.”
Bill’s probably the most cheerful person you’ll ever encounter and the most entirely, unquestionably committed to his passion (photographing clothes).
In moments of feeling slightly overwhelmed by all I’m doing –– web revamps + recording portion of a telecall for next week + prepping for Alaska + Bikram + Belle’s swimming career + waiting for responses on the rewrite –– this movie was exactly what I needed to take the edge off.
Here’s the trailer. (FYI, It has a 99% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes –– and I seriously question the mental health of the single reviewer who didn’t love it….SERIOUSLY.)

I love this movie too! People who are that happy and passionate about their work are wonderful to watch. He never loses the focus on what excites him. A similar movie I just saw is Carmen and Goeffrey, although not as compelling. But Goeffrey too is amazingly happy and constantly creative. I love seeing that such a life is not only possible but works really well!
I know! He was just so completely delighted with everything in his universe –– so inspiring!
