Oddly, my check for the copies of UPWARD DOG that Cavallo Point purchased for my signing event in August was made out to “Upward Dog.”
I’m still going to try and cash it –– but honestly, doesn’t it seem clear that that is the title of the book versus the author’s name?
In any case, today I soldiered through a thorough read-through of the entire manuscript of the novel and inputting all the changes as per my conversation with my new lit agent. We’re tackling one specific narrative issue –– wisely –– but I also found myself finding a few typos and tweaking passages here and there. (And Valerie 2 even generously read through the first 30 pages to confirm my decisions.)
I cancelled pretty much everything else today –– except a 9:30 am yoga private –– and just immersed myself for 10 hours in the novel. No Bikram. No rosé until completion (“Write drunk, edit sober” has always been my motto –– along with “Keep a little brandy, handy.”)
And now it’s sent off in PDF red-lined tracking form to my agent, awaiting her response.
Ever Upward!

I don’t want to live in a world without breakfast wine and Steph.
That’s NOT a world anyone could live in … [That would be hell on earth.]
