Rounding the corner this am at 8:20, saw Philip –– recognizing him from both his great hair + his aura + the fuchsia t-shirt we made for him for TEAM LLS –– and swooped to pick him up in my convertible to take him to our planned 9 am Bikram class.
LLS joined us there, and it was super-fun to have them share the sweat with me. Leslie has been often, but this was Philip’s first Bikram experience and he was a total trooper and a natural. My teacher friend Jennifer taught a great class and had lots of spontaneous jokes about Philip’s Canadian origins on this, our Independence Day.
Met Susan and Val for a beach walk afterwards, complete with lunch at the Warming Hut where Susan made a MAJOR discovery: she likes pesto.
I think previously she must have had versions that were too garlicky but –– as those of us who are pesto-obsessed can testify –– this discovery is a game-changing moment.
And then … blissfully long holiday nap, followed by diving into the sixth and final season of Larry Sanders on netflix, before watching some rooftop fireworks with Susan on the roof.
[Belle, only this year, has developed some nervousness around the loud noise of fireworks and stayed inside –– or maybe she was just having some pesto to celebrate American Independence.]
