Woke up this morning –– after sending out the mass email and the singular email to my producer –– to hundreds of emails.
Many were just “out of the office until _____” of course, but so many congratulations about the upcoming tele-call, many ones reconnecting from long-lost friends –– plus one hilarious and sweetly bizarre response regarding something that happened in 1998! (IE, right or wrong, someone really NOT getting the concept of statute of limitations) –– and even several people generously telling me they’d forwarded the email to their friends and/or writing groups.
[In case you’re the odd man out and reading this yet somehow not on the email list –– which is one of the world’s easiest problem to fix –– here’s the link to the invite (which does link back to this site, but why not have the full journey.)]
I sent the eblast out at around 1 am and then tweaked the script until about 2 am and then watched something (TOWER HEIST?) for an hour to relax and then drifted off to sleep around 3:30.
And today, I made the decision — more or less — to take the day off, although I did have a great interview with my cousin Kathy (who used to be an editor/writer at Vogue and Harpers and Elle and everywhere) for a freelance article she’s doing for the Rosewood luxury hotel chain.  (Even so, that sorta counts as a day off right?)
Tomorrow morning, planning an excursion to Muir Woods to convene with nature.
More and more –– alongside a bottle of red wine –– I truly feel hanging with a redwood can fix anything.
