Apparently, I Have Got Time for the Pain

The board game Transformation technically does not have winners –– but honestly only losers say those kind of things.
I had a very insightful game today with Susan, and as one of my pre-birthday gifts to her I did not immediately eliminate the two pains I received after eliminating my final setback card (despite my inclination to do so immediately.)
Here is a picture of my card on the fourth level (you get cards for Physical, Emotional, Mental and then Spiritual Levels).  You will note that I have 18 –– and then I got even more –- extra spiritual awarenesses on this level, meaning those beyond the requisite six to complete the game.
It is true that when I first started playing, I really didn’t “get” why I shouldn’t just immediately eliminate any pain — you can trade away the pain tokens which look like tears with a 1:1 exchange of awarenesses.  I mean, on the spiritual level apparently I have them at over a 4:1 ratio of what’s required to complete (aka “WIN” the game).  [All the pain does, by the way, is deduct from the number you roll.  So if you have, for example, 2 pains and roll a six you only advance four;  the problem comes when you have too much pain and aren’t rolling high enough, including the extreme possibility of having six pains and therefore no way to move forward, beyond someone else landing on something Miraculous.]
And I’m not sure, even now, having TRIUMPHED at the game that I understand why I need to hang on to the pain for more than a nanosecond (isn’t “hand on the hot stove = bad” enough) … ???
Even so, it was directly because of my roll with the 2 pains factored in, that I cleared that last setback from my Unconscious Envelope and fully TRANSFORMED.
So who knows … Anybody have a direct dial to Carly Simon?
